“It’s never too early to instill a love of reading in your child!” This quote came from a blog post written earlier this month in an online newsletter from the public awareness and action campaign, Too Small to Fail. The blog post was entitled, Promoting Early Literacy at Home.
The month of September is National Literacy Month and will promote the importance of literacy across the U.S. This month is huge at Kids for the Future, as we make a great effort throughout each of our clinics to help children develop their early literacy skills. Strong language and literacy development in early childhood helps to create a solid foundation for future academic achievements.
The classes at each of Kids for the Future’s pediatric day clinics read 5 books everyday. “Children benefit most from reading aloud when they are actively engaged. Reading aloud from birth positively impacts their language development and literacy skills.”—Too Small to Fail
We can’t wait for literacy month and encourage you to celebrate with us by taking 10-15 minutes a day to read aloud with your children. Not only is it greatly beneficial for your child’s future successes, but it can also help you both to build a stronger bond. Be on the look-out for updates on our Literacy Month activities!
